The demolition process can be a tricky and very dangerous environment to work in especially in a city centre location, but careful planning and early engagement with all parties, the process can be made a whole lot safer.
This demolition was carried out with a long reach fitted with a 360 rotating concrete pulveriser ‘munching’ the building from back to front.
Three of the building elevations was surrounded in with scaffold to accommodate the demolition.
The scaffold was fully monarflexed, sheeted with plywood, water cannon sprayed and fitted with a fan along the main street elevation.
This helped screen and dampen down any dust, deflect any flying debris and essentially protect the public during works.
Thankfully the works were completed on programme and without any accidents or incidents.
